Arrival in Oberreifenberg

Today we took our bikes on the 8.34 from Berlin to Frankfurt (with a change in Hanover). We then caught the S-Bahn out to Kronberg which is the closest station to the Taunus mountain range at the highest altitude. From here, we started cycling towards Oberreifenberg where our holiday flat is located.

We only got as far as Viktoriapark before having to stop briefly to put on some extra clothes demanded by the Easterly chill.

Continuing through the town of Falkenstein provided some nice views of fancy mansions, nowadays housing a clinic's administration offices.

An unfortunate puncture repair and 400m of climbing later we finally arrived at Rotes Kreuz (pictured), the highest road pass in the Taunus region. This filled us with great joy (also pictured) at the prospect of only having to go downhill from now as it was already starting to get dark.
